WWE had to make a quick change to Monday Night RAW after Brock Lesnar seemed to announce his retirement at WrestleMania.

Lesnar has been one of WWE’s biggest stars since he came back in 2012, but his wrestling career looked like it ended in Las Vegas. The 49-year-old left his gloves and boots in the ring after losing to Oba Femi, which many people in the wrestling world see as a sign he’s retiring.

It looks like Lesnar made this decision on his own, and it wasn’t part of the planned show. Fightful reported that WWE officials were surprised by it.

Because of this, WWE had to change their plans. Lesnar was supposed to be on Monday Night RAW and was in ads for the event at the T-Mobile Arena. Instead, Seth Rollins took his spot, and Lesnar was also removed from the ads, which seems to confirm he’s leaving WWE.

After the event, Triple H, WWE’s chief content officer, spoke highly of Lesnar, calling him one of a kind. He said, “There was no talk after the match. Brock is probably the most famous combat sports athlete of our time. People think of him as a big, strong beast, but what many don’t see is how smart he is. Sometimes, when you meet someone who’s better and stronger, the smart thing to do is walk away before it’s too late.”

Triple H continued, “I don’t think this was planned. Brock went into the ring and hit a wall called Oba. He realized maybe it was time to call it quits. Taking off his boots and gloves was a smart choice, not a sign of fear. It shows respect for Oba as much as for Brock.”

He finished by saying, “You just saw a changing of the guard at the very top of our business.”
