WWE is getting ready to bring back a surprise star, even though they had let them go before.

WWE is reportedly planning to bring back a surprise star, even though they agreed to release him less than 18 months ago.

Back in April, WWE made a big announcement about releasing several wrestlers, which upset many fans. One of the most notable departures was three-time Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane, who was a top wrestler and involved in an exciting long-term story with Asuka and IYO SKY. Fans hoped WWE might change their mind and invite the Japanese star back, like they did with R-Truth last year, but so far there’s no sign of that happening.

On the other hand, Fightful Select says WWE is about to bring back another wrestler who was recently released. Baron Corbin left WWE in November 2024 when his contract ended and wasn’t renewed. The 41-year-old had just moved up to the main roster after some time in NXT.

Fightful reports that Corbin has wrapped up commitments with other wrestling groups and is either already signed with WWE or expected to sign soon. Corbin, whose real name is Thomas Pestock, shared on social media that he’s still booked for shows in Europe and seemed surprised by the rumors, saying he didn’t know he was officially done with other companies.

Corbin is a former United States Champion and famously won the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2017, although he didn’t successfully cash it in against John Cena.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Bryan Alvarez says WWE has signed four new wrestlers but hasn’t announced them yet. One of them, Nicole Martinez, was invited to a WWE tryout and will join the NXT brand. The other three wrestlers haven’t been named yet.

After the April releases, stars like Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods left the company earlier this month. It’s said WWE’s parent company, TKO, asked them to take a pay cut. WWE also released JC Mateo and Tonga Loa, who were part of Solo Sikoa’s group on SmackDown.
