Yan Diomande agrees to move to four different clubs in a surprising summer twist
Liverpool’s transfer target Yan Diamonde has reportedly agreed to join one of four major European clubs. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger has been attracting a lot of attention this summer after an impressive season at RB Leipzig, where he scored 15 goals and made 11 assists in 46 games.
Diamonde is under contract with Leipzig until 2030. Liverpool made an £86.8 million offer for him in June, but the German club turned it down. Leipzig are said to want more than £100 million for the young star.
Earlier this July, David Ornstein from The Athletic shared that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is Diamonde’s top choice. The player has openly talked about how much he admires PSG. He said to French media, “Paris Saint-Germain is a team I’ve loved since I was little. I think my father was a PSG supporter. It’s a team I admire as a football fan.”
In another interview with Telefoot, he added, “Yeah, it would be a pleasure to play here at one of the biggest clubs. It’s always nice to play in France because the language makes adapting easier. But I’m still an RB Leipzig player.”
Since then, other big clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United have also been linked to him, especially as the transfer deadline on September 1 approaches. His agents have reportedly been in touch daily with several clubs and Leipzig about his future. However, none of the other clubs seem ready to offer more than Liverpool’s initial bid.
Real Madrid and Chelsea are also watching the situation closely. Even though reports suggest Leipzig plans for Diamonde to stay another year, the player is open to leaving if an offer is accepted. Leipzig might allow a sale but want to loan him back for a season.
On the other hand, some reports say Leipzig could offer him a new contract with a big pay raise. Diamonde himself has made it clear he expects to move this summer. During the World Cup, he said, “My dream is to play for my country and make history with them. I don’t have Instagram anymore; I don’t have to talk, so I can say anything. I expect to leave, of course. I have an agent who will sort out the rest. But right now, my focus is on the World Cup and making history with my country.”
