Roma made history by becoming the first club in football to complete the Rodrigo Mora transfer, a really impressive achievement!

One of the coolest moments this summer was Roma making history by becoming the first club to use every squad number from 1 all the way up to 99, thanks to signing Rodrigo Mora.
Mora, a 19-year-old attacking midfielder, got the number 86 shirt when he was officially introduced this week. He’s joined Roma from Portuguese team FC Porto for £21.4 million and has been wearing number 86 since his time with Porto’s reserves.
This number is now special at Roma’s Stadio Olimpico because the club has had at least one player wear every number between 1 and 99 throughout its history—something no other football team has done before. Unlike Spain’s top league, where players only use numbers 1 through 25, Serie A lets clubs pick higher and more unusual numbers like 99, which right now belongs to goalie Mile Svilar.
Looking at Roma’s Transfermarkt page, you’ll see some players pick bold numbers. For example, goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini wears 96, defender Daniele Ghilardi has 87, and Mora sits next after them. Other unique picks include Robinio Vaz with 78, Niccolò Pisilli 61, and Wesley 43.
Besides his number, Mora is excited to play alongside one of his heroes. “I grew up watching Dybala, so playing with him now is really special,” he said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know him better. My best skill is shaking off opponents in tricky spots.”
Here’s a quick look at some famous Roma shirt numbers through the years:
1 – Wojciech Szczęsny
10 – Francesco Totti
11 – Mo Salah
21 – Paulo Dybala
77 – Henrikh Mkhitaryan
90 – Romelu Lukaku
99 – Mile Svilar
…and many more who have made the numbers their own.
It’s pretty amazing that Roma now holds the record for wearing every number from 1 to 99, showing how unique their squad has been over time.
