Arsenal’s hopes of signing one of their top transfer targets are looking very slim with only a few days left in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Even after bringing in Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, the Gunners are still eager to add another forward to their squad. Tzolis has made a great start, impressing on his Premier League debut during Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Coventry and providing two assists in the Community Shield win against Manchester City.

But manager Mikel Arteta and the club want more. They’ve missed out on players like Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior earlier in the window. Meanwhile, forward Gabriel Martinelli might be on his way out, as reports suggest Saudi club Al Hilal are close to signing the Brazilian.

Arsenal have also been linked with Turkey’s Kenan Yildiz, and there were talks about a possible swap deal with Juventus involving Martinelli going the other way. However, Yildiz’s club is asking for at least £50 million, and now, with Yildiz injured, Fabrizio Romano has said there’s “no chance” he will join Arsenal this summer. Arteta might have to wait until January or look for other options.

One possibility is Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, who is Arteta’s top forward target. But Alvarez prefers to go to Barcelona, and Arsenal are waiting to hear if he or his agents would be interested in joining them. Atletico have firmly said they won’t sell Alvarez to Barcelona and are asking for €150 million (about £128m) from other clubs.

Alvarez was booed by Atletico fans after returning from World Cup duty, but his teammates and coach Diego Simeone have shown their support. Simeone said it’s a tough situation but hopes the team stays united for the season ahead.

So, while Arsenal are still chasing new forwards, the transfer window looks like it could end without a big signing—unless something changes fast!
