Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft had to quickly say sorry after hearing what Max Verstappen said during a funny, awkward moment in the cooldown room.

Last week, Verstappen grabbed his first win of the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. He then made it two wins in a row with an amazing performance in Singapore. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc came in second, and championship leader Kimi Antonelli finished third.

As usual this season, Sky Sports showed the three drivers chatting in the cooldown room after the race. But the broadcaster had to quickly apologise and cut the microphones after hearing the drivers swear live on TV.

Since they started showing the cooldown room, fans have loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at how drivers act after a tough race. But this also means broadcasters sometimes catch them forgetting the cameras are on, leading to some awkward and funny moments.

Sunday’s cooldown room was no different. Soon after it started airing, David Croft apologised for the language the drivers were using. The three were swearing so much that Sky had to cut the audio and then switch away from the cooldown room feed entirely.

“I apologise for Max Verstappen’s language there. And Charles Leclerc’s. … (audio cuts off)… Let’s leave it there, shall we?” Croft said. Later, he added, “Sorry for some of the colourful language you might have heard from the cooldown room.”

Thanks to his win, Verstappen is now just eight points behind third-place Lewis Hamilton and 17 points behind second-place George Russell in the Drivers’ Championship.

Verstappen told the media after the race, “The last few races have been really positive for us, and it’s great to see. We’re all motivated to get even better results. It’s a great team, and I enjoy working with them. Hopefully, we can have more fun until the end of the year.”

Antonelli’s third place in Singapore earned him another 15 points as he pushes for his first Drivers’ Championship. His Mercedes teammate, George Russell, started the race in 19th after a penalty but finished 9th, letting Antonelli extend his lead to 102 points.

Next up, the F1 teams will head to the famous Circuit of The Americas in Texas for the United States Grand Prix from October 22 to 25. Fans will be wondering if Antonelli can clinch the title in Texas. Six drivers still have a mathematical chance, as 150 points are still up for grabs.

Basically, Antonelli must win the race in Austin to become champion on October 25. But that’s not all—if he wins, Russell needs to finish 10th or lower for Antonelli to seal the title. Otherwise, the fight will continue into the next race in Mexico.
