Over 1,000 FPL managers seem to have made an easy Mamadou Sangare mistake after he scored 14 points.

It looks like quite a few Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players made the same mix-up after midfielder Mamadou Sangare scored 14 points in his Brentford debut.
Sangare joined Brentford from RC Lens this month for a club-record £39 million and really stood out in his first big game. The 24-year-old showed off his stamina during Brentford’s 3-0 win over Tottenham, with two tackles, two interceptions, and two clearances. He also helped set up two goals, earning him 14 points plus three bonus points in FPL.
His great performance caught a lot of attention. Nearly 198,000 players brought him into their FPL teams for Gameweek 2. But here’s where many went wrong. As shared by X user FPL S7S, lots of players accidentally picked Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangare (£5.0m) instead of Mamadou (£5.5m).
About 1,500 players made this mistake, and some even admitted it on social media. One said, “I’m one of them,” and another agreed. Ibrahim Sangare, who played full-time in Forest’s 1-0 loss to Leeds, scored just two FPL points.
Meanwhile, it was an amazing weekend for Brighton’s De Cuyper, who was the top FPL scorer in Gameweek 1 with 17 points, thanks to a goal, assist, and a clean sheet in their 4-0 win against Aston Villa. He outscored players like teammate Jack Hinshelwood (16 points), Hull City’s Nobel Mendy (15), and of course Mamadou Sangare (14).
Due to injuries in the Brighton squad, Fabian Hurzeler gave De Cuyper a more attacking role, which paid off for many FPL managers. Although De Cuyper is naturally a full-back and listed as a defender on the FPL site, only 3.5% of players picked him for the first gameweek, including Saif Ali, who even triple-captained him to score 51 points.
