Bruno Fernandes’ FPL points against Ipswich seem amazing—until you check out the all-time record for a single gameweek!

Bruno Fernandes had an amazing day on Sunday, scoring the best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points of his career. But he still hasn’t caught up to Mohamed Salah’s record for most points in a single Gameweek.
It was a day to remember for Fernandes, who earned 23 points in Gameweek 2 by scoring three goals and setting up another in Manchester United’s 5-2 win over Ipswich Town.
Last season, Fernandes stood out by having more double-digit scoring Gameweeks than anyone else. He averaged 7.6 points per match under Michael Carrick and finished as the top-scoring midfielder for the 2025-26 season.
So it wasn’t a surprise when the 31-year-old put in another big performance, adding three bonus points to make this his best-ever single-match FPL score.
Before the season started, Fernandes joked when asked why people should pick him for their FPL team: “They shouldn’t,” he said with a smile. “I’m too expensive.”
We hope folks didn’t listen to him!
Fernandes’ 23 points are impressive, but it’s still six points shy of Mohamed Salah’s record. Salah got 29 points in one Gameweek back in 2017-18 by scoring four goals and an assist in a 5-0 win against Watford. It’s a tough record to beat!
Right behind Salah is Frank Lampard, another FPL legend, who scored 28 points twice. Once was in 2007-08 with four goals and an assist for Chelsea against Derby, and again in 2009-10 with a similar performance against Aston Villa.
Liverpool’s John Arne Riise scored 27 points on Boxing Day 2004, thanks to two goals, two assists, and a clean sheet against West Brom.
Steve Watson surprised many by earning 27 points for Everton in a 4-0 win over Leeds in 2003-04. Playing midfield instead of defense, he scored a hat-trick and kept a clean sheet.
Other big scorers include Theo Walcott, who got 26 points for a hat-trick and two assists in Arsenal’s 7-3 win over Newcastle in 2012. Michail Antonio also scored 26 points with four goals for West Ham in a 2020 win over Norwich.
More recently, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer grabbed 26 points by scoring four goals against Everton in April 2024.
So while Fernandes had a fantastic Gameweek, he’s still chasing some impressive company!
