The Liverpool vs Brighton game might be postponed because Storm Boelo is coming.

Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League game against Brighton might be uncertain because of Storm Boelo. On Sunday afternoon, Liverpool will be hosting a strong Brighton and Hove Albion team at Anfield for their eighth league match this season.

But with Storm Austen already affecting the UK and Storm Boelo expected to hit over the weekend, there are real worries the Liverpool vs. Brighton match might be canceled.

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the Premier League, with three wins, three draws, and one loss, earning 12 points. Brighton is just two spots above in third place, thanks to an impressive run under Fabian Hurzeler, with five wins, one draw, and one loss so far.

This Sunday’s match promises to be exciting, but the UK Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning from midday Saturday until Sunday evening. Strong winds of 55-65 mph are expected around Merseyside, which could cause problems on matchday.

A local Safety Advisory Group, including club officials, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council, will decide if the game can go ahead. They’ll look at pitch conditions, player safety, and possible travel issues for fans, since road and rail might be disrupted.

Brighton is already dealing with bad weather, so the group will also consider whether it’s safe for the team and their supporters to travel to Liverpool.

If the match needs to be postponed, it will have to be rescheduled. Both teams are busy with the Carabao Cup and European games, so finding a new date won’t be easy.

The earliest possible dates for a rescheduled match could be December 15–16, but that depends on how both teams do in the Carabao Cup. Liverpool plays Chelsea at Anfield on Wednesday, and Brighton faces Manchester City away. If either team reaches the quarter-finals, the match might be moved to December 22–23, a quieter week before Christmas.

Liverpool vs. Brighton won’t be the only game affected by these storms — there are 46 matches planned across the top four English leagues and 16 in Scotland over the weekend that could also face disruptions.
