Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d’Or after playing over 600 games for six different clubs and earning 91 caps for England. His journey to the top is really inspiring for young players. He began in Tottenham’s academy and went on loan to Leyton Orient, Norwich, Millwall, and Leicester before getting a big chance in Spurs’ first team thanks to Tim Sherwood—one of the many coaches Kane thanked in his Ballon d’Or speech.

It wasn’t until Kane started scoring regularly for Spurs that people began to see how great he could be. Even some at Spurs didn’t believe in him at first. In his speech, Kane also thanked youth coaches Bradley Allen and Chris Ramsey, plus Spurs assistant manager Alex Inglethorpe, who believed in him from the very beginning—and they were definitely right.

Kane’s first appearance in the Football Manager game was way back in 2010, when he was just 15 and still two years away from his Spurs debut. Sports Interactive, the game makers, spotted Kane’s potential early by assigning him roles as an attacking midfielder and striker, with good scores for first touch, passing, and fitness. He’s stayed very fit in real life, proving their ratings were spot on.

They also expected him to take corners for England at Euro 2016 and saw him as a future captain, giving him high scores for crossing, leadership, and influence. His jumping and heading skills were also impressive for a teen who was only 5ft 10in tall then.

What’s amazing is how Kane’s mental skills grew over time. His initial ratings for composure, decision-making, creativity, determination, teamwork, and finishing were pretty average, but with the right training, he improved all of those and became a top striker—both in the game and real life.

Miles Jacobson, the Sports Interactive studio manager, once said he apologized to Kane at an awards event for their early game ratings of him, admitting they underestimated how good he would become. Kane even told him that part of why he worked so hard was to improve his stats in the game!

Football Manager 2027 will launch with a free preview on October 29, and you can bet Kane will once again be rated as one of the world’s best strikers, just like he is in real life.
