Liverpool fans called out Jordan Henderson for his sneaky actions during the Chelsea game.

Liverpool fans weren’t too happy with Jordan Henderson when he returned to Anfield during the Carabao Cup game against Chelsea.

Henderson, who spent 12 great years with Liverpool from 2011 to 2023, had a tough return after Chelsea lost 6-5 on penalties. This was his first visit back since joining Chelsea in the summer, along with Xabi Alonso, and some Reds fans had mixed feelings about him during the match.

When Henderson left Liverpool in 2023, he went out as a club legend, having played 492 games and spent eight seasons as captain. He won plenty of trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup. But his move to Chelsea upset some fans, who let him know by booing every time he got the ball.

Things got a bit tense when Henderson smirked while walking to take a penalty, which his teammate Morgan Rogers scored to give Chelsea the first goal. Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo soon equalized, and the game ended with Liverpool winning in a penalty shootout after Wesley Fofana missed his kick.

Even though Liverpool won, fans were not impressed with Henderson’s behavior during the game. At one point, he even appealed for a penalty against his own teammate! Many took to social media with comments like “Can’t stand Henderson” and “Proper snide little Tory.”

But not all the reactions were negative. Some fans found it strange to see him in a Chelsea shirt, while others showed respect, reminding everyone “Once a red, always a red.”

Henderson later clapped the crowd and shared some friendly moments with former teammate Virgil van Dijk, showing there’s still respect off the pitch.

Xabi Alonso also made his first visit back to Anfield since joining Chelsea. He is another Liverpool legend, having played there for five years. Despite the loss, Alonso was pleased with the team’s performance but disappointed that Maxence Lacroix had to leave early with an injury.

Alonso said, “We played well and showed improvement. It was a close game and could have gone either way. We had to deal with tough moments, like Max’s injury, but now we’re focused on our next game.”

Chelsea will face Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 31, in an exciting Premier League match.
