Pep Guardiola shares a funny moment in the press conference after Man City’s win over Brentford
Pep Guardiola made a funny and urgent plea ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League match tomorrow.
Guardiola’s team won today’s game against Brentford 3-0, although the first 60 minutes were quite cautious. Jérémy Doku scored a beautiful goal, curling the ball into the top corner—almost the same as his late equalizer against Everton last Monday in their 3-3 draw.
Tomorrow, Arsenal will visit West Ham, who are fighting to avoid relegation, with just three games left in the title race. Arsenal currently leads by two points.
As Manchester City aims to win the Premier League again—after Liverpool ended their streak last season—Guardiola jokingly shouted “Come on you Irons!” (West Ham’s nickname) when talking to reporters after the match.
West Ham sits 18th and is battling Tottenham to stay in the league, with only one point separating them. Under Nuno Espírito Santo, West Ham has earned seven points in their last four games, including a close 2-1 win over Everton and a big 4-0 win against already relegated Wolves.
West Ham has a history of upsetting Arsenal’s title hopes. In April 2023, they drew 2-2 with Arsenal, with Bukayo Saka missing an important penalty. In early 2025, Jarrod Bowen helped West Ham beat Arsenal 1-0 when Arsenal had a player sent off. And in the middle season, West Ham helped Manchester City by beating Arsenal 2-0 at home, with goals from Konstantinos Mavrapanos and Tomáš Souček.
Each time, Arsenal finished second in the league, just behind Manchester City or Liverpool, who were strong under new manager Arne Slot.
West Ham really needs a win and has only three games left to catch Tottenham in the relegation fight. The London derby between these teams has been a regular and important fixture for West Ham in recent years.
Guardiola and his team will be watching closely tomorrow, hoping West Ham can help shake up the title race. Manchester City plays again next Wednesday against Crystal Palace at home, and this season looks like one of the closest title battles ever.
