Rory McIlroy’s strong reply to LIV Players who don’t want to come back to the PGA Tour

Rory McIlroy shared his thoughts about the LIV Golf players who don’t want to come back to the PGA Tour after his second round at the Truist Championship on Friday.
Last month, it was announced that the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) would stop funding LIV Golf after the 2026 season. This raised a lot of questions about what’s next for the league.
LIV Golf is now looking for new investors for next year, but it’s unlikely they’ll get the same level of funding from the PIF. This has made people wonder if some of their top players might return to the PGA Tour.
Bryson DeChambeau, though, has said he might not come back. He mentioned he’d focus on his YouTube channel if LIV Golf doesn’t work out. But he also said in an interview with Garrett Johnson from Skratch that he thinks he and the PGA Tour can work things out.
Bryson said, “I think there’s a way to solve any problem. It really comes down to whether the players want me back. If they want me, great. If not, I understand.”
Now, McIlroy has spoken up about the players who might not want to return after the news about LIV Golf. He said, “It’s a question if they want to come back. We’ve seen some quotes lately. It depends on what happens with LIV. If they can come back and play on the traditional tours, I think Brian Rolapp has said anything that makes the tour stronger is good. Everyone should be open to that.”
He added, “But there are still some big hurdles. The players have contracts, and if LIV can set up a schedule next year, they’ll probably keep playing mostly on LIV, in whatever form it takes.”
Golf fans will be watching closely to see if players like DeChambeau and Jon Rahm decide to return to the PGA Tour next season, stay with LIV Golf, or find another path.
