Morgan Rogers’ future gets an exciting new twist with Arsenal and Man Utd showing interest.
Morgan Rogers’ future just got a lot more exciting, as both Arsenal and Manchester United are still interested in the Aston Villa No. 10.
Rogers caught the eye of Premier League rivals after shining in the last two seasons under Unai Emery. The 23-year-old moved from Middlesbrough to Villa in January 2024 and quickly became a key player. He’s scored 31 goals and made 29 assists in 125 games, helping Villa qualify for the Champions League and win the Europa League last season.
His great form also earned him a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man England squad for the World Cup. Rogers even came on as a substitute when England beat Croatia 4-2 on June 17.
Even though Rogers is away on international duty, rumors about his future haven’t slowed down. Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, is said to have made Rogers their top target this summer. With Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard both linked with moves away, there could be room for Rogers at the club. Mikel Arteta sees him as a perfect signing.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on what’s happening with Rogers. At first, many thought Villa would only consider offers around £100 million, but Sky Sports now reports they might be open to bids near £80 million. Villa’s financial struggles — spending too much on wages and transfers compared to their income — might affect the price if Rogers moves this summer.
Rogers signed a new contract with Villa last November, keeping him at the club until 2031. Even though Arsenal seems the favorite to sign him, Rogers has said before that there’s “no bigger team than United,” especially after scoring twice in Villa’s 2-1 win over the Red Devils last season.
In an interview on The Rest Is Football earlier this June, Rogers talked about how transfer rumors have affected him. He said, “The first time it happened, it did.” He explained that at first, it was strange to realize so many teams were interested in him. But as he’s grown and gained experience, he’s learned that most of it is just noise. He added, “You hear it, of course you do. You can’t help hearing it. But you’ve got to use it in a positive way and just focus on your game.”
