Footballer has a terrible injury that leaves teammates in tears

A footballer experienced a really serious injury during a match in Honduras’ top league.
Romario da Silva, a Brazilian midfielder for Motagua, hurt his ankle badly while chasing the ball in the 56th minute against Olancho FC. He collided with a defender and twisted his left ankle in a painful way, with his right ankle putting extra pressure on it.
Da Silva cried out in pain, and his teammates immediately signaled for help. Medical staff rushed onto the field, set up a barrier around him, and carefully placed him on a stretcher. Some teammates were even seen in tears, with one being comforted by a coach.

According to El Heraldo, a top news source in Honduras, Romario was taken to the hospital and had a first successful surgery. He was diagnosed with a fracture and dislocation of the fibula and had his ankle cleaned because there was some debris in the bone.
He will need a second surgery to fix the ligament and secure the bone with plates and screws. This injury means he will be out of action for at least six months, and it’s uncertain if he will return to professional football.
Motagua released an official statement confirming Romario’s injury and his first surgery. They said the second operation is scheduled for Friday.
“If no infection is found, surgery will take place on Sunday, May 17,” the statement said.
They also thanked everyone for their support and said they are committed to looking after the health of all their players.
