“I’ve never seen anything like this,” says Scottie Scheffler about his hopes for the PGA Championship.

Scottie Scheffler shared how he’s feeling as he gets ready for tomorrow’s big day at the PGA Championship, calling it maybe the most unpredictable day he’s ever faced.

The first two days at Aronimink sparked lots of talk among fans about how the course was set up, with some players like Scheffler and McIlroy expressing frustration. Scheffler even called Friday’s pin placements “absurd,” which led the PGA of America to make some changes before Saturday’s play.

They moved some tees forward and made a few pins easier to reach, and these changes seem to have made the course even more exciting. Today’s action saw an incredible 14 players share the lead at different times, and 30 golfers are just five shots behind the leader going into the final day.

Some top players took advantage of the changes, especially McIlroy, who was outside the top 100 after Thursday but climbed up with a strong round on Friday and Saturday, now sitting three under par. On the other hand, Scheffler didn’t have as good a day and ended with a 71, putting him five shots behind the leader, Alex Smalley.

After missing a few short putts, Scheffler said, “I’ve never seen anything like this. The leaderboard is so packed. Going into tomorrow, it really could be anyone’s tournament. A lot of players have a chance, and I’m going to do my best to be the one who has a great round.”

Last year, Scheffler won by shooting a 65 on Saturday, but this year’s leaderboard shows the competition is wide open. McIlroy is aiming to win the PGA for the third time, and Jon Rahm is just two shots behind, hoping for his third major and chasing the career Grand Slam after wins at the 2021 US Open and the 2023 Masters.

England’s Justin Rose and Aaron Rai are also in the hunt to make history, as the PGA Championship hasn’t had an English winner since it started in 1916.

Heading into Sunday’s final round, Scottie Scheffler is in 24th place, ready to fight for the championship at Aronimink.
