Tiger Woods honors his dad in his first message since the DUI accident

Tiger Woods has shared his first message on social media since coming back from rehab after his DUI accident. Just a few days after playing in the Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL), he was involved in a serious car crash in Florida back in April.

It was later confirmed that the 50-year-old was arrested at the scene for suspected misdemeanor DUI, property damage, and refusing a test, but he was released on bond. After the crash, Woods said he would take some time off to get treatment and focus on his health.

Woods then checked into a rehab center in Switzerland, staying away from social media while he recovered. Now, he’s popped back online to post a heartfelt tribute to his father, Earl Woods, as the U.S. marks Memorial Day.

“My father was a Special Forces operator with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service,” Woods wrote on X. “To all those like my father, we say thank you for your sacrifices. Because of them, we have the greatest country on Earth.”

Memorial Day is a U.S. holiday honoring military members who served, observed on the last Monday of May. Earl Woods served two tours in Vietnam and passed away in 2003 after fighting prostate cancer.

On May 13, Tiger was seen landing at Palm Beach International Airport, back from rehab in Switzerland. But his private plane reportedly flew back to Switzerland recently, likely to continue his treatment.

It’s unclear why Woods made this quick trip back to Miami, but it might be connected to his partner Vanessa Trump, who recently shared she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer.

For now, we’re waiting to see when Tiger will feel ready to return to the golf course.
