Man Utd share their kept player list and say goodbye to six players leaving the club

Manchester United have announced that six players are leaving the club as part of their updated squad for the new season.

With the 2025/26 season now over, teams around the world are already planning for the 2026/27 season, which will start soon after the World Cup ends. The transfer window officially opens on Monday, June 15, but many clubs have been busy making new signings ahead of time.

United are among the top Premier League teams to have already agreed a deal, having signed Atalanta midfielder Ederson for an initial fee of £34 million, with an extra £3.8 million possible in add-ons.

But it’s not just about new players coming in—United have also confirmed which players won’t be staying by releasing their official list of retained players for the 2026/27 season.

One of the biggest names leaving is Casemiro. After four seasons at the club, 160 appearances, and scoring 26 goals, the Brazilian announced back in January that he wouldn’t be renewing his contract.

Jadon Sancho is also leaving after five years at United. Signed for a huge £73 million from Borussia Dortmund, he made just 83 appearances and spent the last two and a half years out on loan at Dortmund, Chelsea, and Aston Villa.

Due to ongoing injury issues, Tyrell Malacia has also left after making only 50 appearances since joining in 2022. Last season, he only played three times as a late substitute in the Premier League.

Besides these first-team players, United confirmed that academy players Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey, and Malachi Sharpe will also be leaving this summer.

On a brighter note, academy defenders Albert Mills and Dante Plunkett are expected to sign their first professional contracts with United in July. Plus, Northern Ireland goalkeeper Dermot Mee has been offered a new deal after playing an important part in first-team training and representing the Under-21s in competitive matches.

It’s a time of change at Old Trafford, and fans will be looking forward to seeing the new team take shape for next season!
