Real Madrid has responded clearly to recent rumors about a possible big-money move for Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise.
After club president Florentino Perez promised to spend €150 million (£130m) on a major signing this summer, there’s been lots of talk about who the next big star, or “Galactico,” could be. At first, players like Joao Neves and Vitinha from Paris Saint-Germain were linked to the club. But more recently, the rumors about a huge bid for Michael Olise have grown stronger.
A recent report from Spanish newspaper MARCA even said Olise, who is currently playing for France at the World Cup, is now Madrid’s main target. They said Real Madrid could end up offering more than €200 million, maybe close to €220 million, to get him from Bayern.
However, Real Madrid quickly denied these reports. On their official website, they stated they haven’t made any contact with Olise or his agents. They called the rumors inaccurate and emphasized their great working relationship with Bayern Munich.
The club’s official statement said: “Real Madrid has not had any direct or indirect contact with Michael Olise, his representatives, or anyone connected to him. We want to stress the excellent relationship we have with Bayern Munich, based on a long history of respect and cooperation. We regret the spread of false stories. Both clubs agree that any interest in a player should be handled respectfully and directly between the two clubs first.”
