Harry Kane’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or should get a boost, even though he hasn’t scored for Bayern Munich yet.

Harry Kane is one of the top favorites to win this year’s Ballon d’Or. He’s up against some tough competition like Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, PSG’s Fabian Ruiz, and World Cup-winning captain Rodri.

Kane had an amazing week, becoming the joint most-capped England player alongside Peter Shilton. He also scored his 91st goal for England in a match against Czechia. His strong performances for England surely helped his case for the Ballon d’Or, and he gave himself an extra boost during Bayern Munich’s recent game against Augsburg.

Although Kane didn’t score in the match against Augsburg, he was a key player by setting up two goals. Bayern is now second in the Bundesliga, just two points behind Borussia Dortmund.

The game started badly for Bayern as they fell behind just eight seconds in. Manuel Neuer lost the ball to Robin Fellhauer, who scored into the empty net. Kane then assisted Ismael Saibari to tie the game in the 55th minute, but Augsburg pushed ahead again through Rodrigo Ribeiro. Kane came through once more in the 80th minute, helping Nathaniel Brown score to earn Bayern a draw.

Even without scoring, Kane was vital for Bayern, providing two assists and earning the Man of the Match award. He has already nearly matched his assist total from last season.

So far this season, Kane has scored four goals for Bayern, which is fewer than his 61 goals last season. But there’s still plenty of time left, and he’s confident he can improve his numbers as long as he stays fit.

Kane’s great goal-scoring for Bayern and strong showings for England at the World Cup put him firmly in the Ballon d’Or conversation. Plus, showing off his all-around skills could really help his chances.

If Kane wins, he’d be only the fifth English player ever to get the Ballon d’Or. The trophy has been won by some English legends before: Michael Owen last won it in 2001 during an incredible season with Liverpool, Stanley Matthews was the first English winner back in 1956, Kevin Keegan won it twice in the late 1970s, and Bobby Charlton took the prize in 1966 after leading England to World Cup glory.

Winning the Ballon d’Or now would place Kane among these greats and mark a special moment 50 years after Charlton’s success.
