Big Harry Kane transfer news just broke, right before England’s next World Cup match!

Barcelona have reached out to Harry Kane’s team to see if a move might be possible after this summer’s World Cup, but they’ve already hit a big roadblock. Kane has had one of the best seasons of his career in 2025-26, scoring 70 goals for club and country. In fact, only Lionel Messi has scored more goals in a single season this century. Because of this, there are lots of talks about Kane possibly moving for a big fee.
Bayern Munich want to keep Kane and have already started chatting about a new contract that could last until 2029. But Barcelona are eager to sign Kane to replace Robert Lewandowski, who’s leaving for MLS club Chicago Fire after his contract ends.
According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona contacted Kane’s reps to explore a possible move since he’s entering the last year of his Bayern contract. However, Kane is said to be very happy at Bayern, and the club would strongly resist any attempt to sign him. Kane’s camp reportedly “closed the door” on talks with Barcelona after their initial call.
Though Kane once hinted he might return to the Premier League, he recently downplayed the idea. He also said he’d be open to talking about a new deal at Bayern. “I could definitely see myself staying longer,” Kane said. “I haven’t had those talks yet, but if they come up, I’d be willing to have an honest conversation. It depends on how things go next year and what we achieve together. Right now, I’m focused on what’s ahead.”
About returning to England, Kane said, “If you’d asked me when I first left Bayern, I’d have said yes. But now, after a couple of years here, that feeling has lessened. I wouldn’t say never, but it’s not on my mind right now.”
Kane is also in the running for the Ballon d’Or after his fantastic season for club and country. But he knows that winning the World Cup or Champions League is key to actually winning the award. “I could score 100 goals, but if I don’t win those big trophies, it’s unlikely I’d win the Ballon d’Or,” he said. “It’s the same for players like Erling Haaland. You have to win the major trophies.”
With Bayern doing great this season — unbeaten in 17 matches — Kane feels they have a good chance in the Champions League. England also goes into the World Cup as one of the favorites. They’ll face DR Congo in the round of 32 this Wednesday.
While PSG ended up defending their Champions League title in May, Kane and England will be hoping to make a big splash in this summer’s World Cup.
