Man Utd fans are all hoping the same player can ‘rescue’ the team after the tough loss to Hull.
Manchester United fans are all asking for the same player to be signed after one of their stars struggled in the game against Hull City.
The Red Devils started the new season with a surprise loss to a team many expected to be relegated after just getting promoted from the Championship. By halftime, they were 2-0 down after Hull’s centre-backs Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy scored from set-pieces, showing some weaknesses in United’s defense.
Hull made history as the first newly-promoted team to beat United on the opening weekend and got their first top-flight win since 2017. United’s attack was slow, and they brought on Marcus Rashford at halftime to try to turn things around. But Hull’s wing-backs kept causing problems for United’s defense.
Many United players didn’t perform well, but longtime left-back Luke Shaw was heavily criticized, especially for his role in the second Hull goal. Shaw bounced back from a tough injury last season to play every Premier League game, but with more matches coming this season because of European football, United is looking for a new left-back.
Lewis Hall is their main target, but it’s a tricky deal. Other names like Myles Lewis-Skelly, Jorge Salinas, and Alejandro Balde have also been suggested. After Shaw’s tough game, many fans want Balde to join right away.
On social media, fans shared their thoughts:
– “Some people said Balde/Hall wouldn’t replace Shaw until 2026 — guess not.”
– “Look at Shaw on the second goal. Why wouldn’t United want Balde?”
– “United should put in a €70m bid for Balde after that performance.”
– “Only Balde can save United. A clear upgrade over Dorgu and Shaw, and only £50 million.”
– “Luke Shaw is done! Bring me Balde, United.”
Balde looks likely to leave Barcelona. According to Fabrizio Romano, he’s no longer untouchable, and United was offered Balde by agent Jorge Mendes but hasn’t made an offer yet. Gerard Romero says Balde might not even be in Barca’s squad for their first game this season against Elche.
When asked about Balde, Barcelona’s coach Hansi Flick gave an answer that suggests he’s open to letting him go. Flick said: “It’s a tough question because he’s a player with tons of quality. But I need to see if he’s confident he can compete for his spot. I watch every player carefully to see if they’re at the level to play. We have to work as a team to succeed, and I need everyone giving 100%.”
