Premier League clubs are about to get a nice financial boost thanks to England’s exciting 2-1 win over DR Congo in the World Cup. England’s captain, Harry Kane, scored two goals to help the team come from behind in Atlanta and secure their spot in the tournament’s last 16.

Next, they’ll face co-host Mexico in Mexico City on July 6, with the match kicking off at 1am UK time. The game will be held at the famous Estadio Azteca, which holds over 87,000 fans and will mostly be cheering for Mexico. So, England will need to play even better than they did against DR Congo.

England’s coach, Thomas Tuchel, saw his team go behind early when Brian Cipenga scored inside the first seven minutes. It wasn’t until the 75th minute that Kane equalized with a header, and then he scored again 11 minutes later to complete the comeback. Anthony Gordon, who came on as a substitute, helped set up both of Kane’s goals, while another substitute, Eberechi Eze, also made a big impact in midfield.

Because England is staying in the World Cup for at least five more days, several Premier League clubs will earn money from FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme. FIFA pays clubs a bonus for every day their players keep playing in the tournament—about $5,000 per player, per day, though the exact amount isn’t confirmed yet.

The money goes to the club that the player was officially with when the final squads were picked. For example, Newcastle will get money for Anthony Gordon because even though he was sold to Barcelona on May 29, he didn’t officially become their player until July 1. Similarly, Marcus Rashford is listed as a Barcelona player because his loan from Manchester United ended on June 30.

In total, Premier League clubs are set to earn around $500,000 until England’s game against Mexico. Some clubs will get more than others, depending on how many players they have in the England squad. Arsenal, for example, have four players (Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, and Bukayo Saka) and could make about $100,000. Manchester City also have four players (John Stones, Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guehi, and James Trafford) and will earn a similar amount.

Here’s a quick look at other Premier League clubs with England players:

– Aston Villa: 3 players (Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa)
– Chelsea: 2 players (Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah)
– Newcastle: 2 players (Dan Burn, Anthony Gordon)
– Brentford: 1 player (Jordan Henderson)
– Crystal Palace: 1 player (Dean Henderson)
– Everton: 1 player (Jordan Pickford)
– Nottingham Forest: 1 player (Elliot Anderson)
– Tottenham Hotspur: 1 player (Djed Spence)

Looking beyond England, clubs like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will receive money for Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, while Al Hilal will earn for Ivan Toney and Bayer Leverkusen for Jarell Quansah. Barcelona will also get some extra cash for Rashford.

So, England’s World Cup run is not only exciting for fans but good news for clubs too!
