Andy Murray takes on a new tennis role just 11 months after parting ways with Novak Djokovic

Andy Murray is making a comeback to tennis after spending some time coaching Novak Djokovic last year.

After an amazing career that made him one of the biggest names in British sport, Murray announced his retirement following the Paris Olympic Games in August 2024. He finished his career with three Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals, cementing his spot as one of the sport’s greats.

Not long after retiring, Murray was asked to join Djokovic’s coaching team—a surprise but exciting move. However, after six months, they decided to part ways, leaving fans curious about what Murray would do next.

People thought Murray might coach Emma Raducanu, but now it’s confirmed he’ll be teaming up with another rising British star, Jack Draper. After splitting from his previous coach Jamie Delgado, Draper said he’ll work with Murray during the grass-court season, including Wimbledon, which starts in late June.

Draper shared, “I’m really thankful to Jamie Delgado for all his help over the past six months. He’s a top coach and a great person. For now, I’ll keep getting support from the LTA team, with Andy Murray joining to help me during the grass season.”

Delgado joined Draper’s team last October and had worked with Murray when he was world number one. Unfortunately, Draper faced some injuries and only played in four tournaments with Delgado so far.

It’s not clear exactly when Draper and Murray will debut as a team, but Draper aims to play through the whole grass-court season after the French Open at Roland Garros. He might return at the Stuttgart Open, where he won his first ATP title two years ago, but most likely, he’ll come back at Queen’s Club in London the following week.
