Anthony Gordon was heard speaking another language just moments after impressing everyone with his fluent Spanish at the Barcelona unveiling.

England winger Anthony Gordon has been spotted chatting in another language after showing off his fluent Spanish at his Barcelona unveiling.

Gordon, 25, finished his medical on Thursday (May 28) and was officially introduced as a Barcelona player on Friday (May 29), following a £69.3 million transfer deal between Newcastle and the La Liga giants.

Just like Trent Alexander-Arnold did when he joined Real Madrid last summer, Gordon spoke part of his speech in clear Spanish. When asked how he learned the language, he shared that he dreamed of playing for Barca since he was “three years old.”

“I wanted to speak Spanish because, as a kid, I believed I would play for Barca, believe it or not,” he told reporters. “I have a physio in Newcastle, and we talked every day. I said, ‘One day I’ll play for Barca, so I want to learn Spanish.’

“I found out quite late about Barcelona’s interest, but once I knew they were serious, there was no doubt. Barca is the biggest club in the world. This is something I’ve dreamed about as a child.”

Gordon, who also caught the eye of Bayern Munich, can’t officially join Barcelona until the transfer window opens on June 15, when all the final paperwork will be completed.

And it wasn’t just his Spanish that wowed fans — the England star was also heard speaking Catalan, the local language of Catalonia, while signing shirts and telling fans he was “very happy” to join the club.

During his time at Newcastle, Gordon scored 39 goals and made 28 assists in 152 games, helping the Magpies win the 2025 Carabao Cup and end a 70-year wait for a major trophy.

Speaking to Newcastle’s website, he thanked the fans for their support and said he would always be a supporter of the club.

However, his unveiling hit a hiccup when the event was delayed by eight hours due to some paperwork issues.

On the delay, he said: “I expected it. I stayed very calm at the hotel with my family and agents. It’s stuff I don’t understand. My part was done, I was ready. It was things beyond me — legal stuff and small details.

“I know the history of this club and the amazing players who have worn its shirt. I’m ready for this challenge. I have a burning desire to win here.”

The Liverpudlian is also set to be part of Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man England squad for the upcoming World Cup in North America. He currently has 17 caps for the Three Lions and has scored twice.
