Anthony Joshua shares the clear message he got before his fight with Jake Paul

Anthony Joshua recently shared the “clear message” he got before his big knockout win over Jake Paul last December.

The two faced off in a superfight in Miami that streamed on Netflix, drawing attention worldwide. Even though Paul has been making a name in boxing, the fight showed a big difference in skill. Joshua dominated the match at the Kaseya Center, knocking Paul down four times.

In the sixth round, Joshua finished Paul with a powerful combo. The former heavyweight champ admitted this wasn’t his best fight, but he might have put an end to Paul’s boxing career since Paul had to have surgery for a broken jaw after.

Paul hasn’t fought since then, and Joshua has thought about the “job” he did in Miami. He told Ring Magazine, “No matter how much they move around, I believe I can knock them out quickly. Some say to cut the ring off and use other tactics, but I wanted to make sure the win felt right—not just an early stop.”

Joshua added, “I was given a clear task: to take Jake Paul out and keep boxing pure. Whether that took one round or six, I believe I did the job well.”

While Paul is exploring other projects, Joshua is gearing up for his next fight. He will face Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25, thanks to a new multi-fight deal in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua has been away from boxing for a while after a car crash that sadly took the lives of two close friends. The fight with Prenga will help Joshua get back into shape before his anticipated bout with Tyson Fury, one of the biggest fights in British boxing.

Joshua turned down Fury’s challenge after beating Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, but they have since signed contracts for a possible fight in 2026.
