Barcelona has agreed to a £24.7m deal that might turn out to be the best bargain of the summer.
Barcelona is about to make their second big signing of the transfer window, and Fabrizio Romano’s famous “Here We Go!” phrase just confirmed it – this could be the best deal of the summer.
Back in May, we shared that Barcelona benefited from La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule. This rule means that every euro the club earns from selling players or cutting wages can be spent on new signings.
After signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United last month for around £69.3 million, Barcelona is now chasing another top forward, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, especially after Robert Lewandowski left when his contract ended in June.
On Friday night, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Barcelona has agreed to sign Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for €22 million plus €7 million in extra fees (about £24.7 million). Although The Athletic says the deal isn’t fully done yet, it should be finalized soon.
Adeyemi has scored 36 goals in 146 games since moving to Dortmund from RB Salzburg in 2022, including 10 goals and six assists across the 2025-26 season.
Earlier this month, Yamal talked about a player he’d love to see join Barcelona. He told Cadena SER, “I’m not thinking too much about it, but I’d love it because Julian Alvarez is a great player. If he comes, we’ll welcome him with open arms. If I were him, I’d do it. We’re waiting for him if he wants to come. I say go for it.”
Julian Alvarez has also said he wants to join Barcelona, and former Liverpool and Argentina midfielder Maxi Rodriguez thinks the two clubs should make a deal. However, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Real Madrid (who recently had a big €150 million [£171m] offer turned down) are also interested in Alvarez.
