Bernardo Silva shares big news about his next club and talks about Barcelona’s interest

Bernardo Silva, the outgoing Manchester City star, has opened up about what’s next for him while getting ready for the World Cup with Portugal.

His contract with Manchester City ends at the end of this month, so from July, he’ll be a free agent. At 31, Silva decided not to renew his deal, ending a nine-year run with the club.

He leaves as one of City’s all-time greats, having played 460 games and helped the team win six Premier League titles, five League Cups, three FA Cups, three Community Shields, a UEFA Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup.

Barcelona is a top contender to sign him, although they can only offer about £80,000 a week, which is quite a bit less than what he earned at City. Still, this probably won’t stop the move, especially since Silva has family in Catalonia that could make the change easier.

He’s also been linked with a return to his first club Benfica and with Atlético Madrid, who have reportedly made offers too.

People thought Silva would decide before the World Cup, but his agent Jorge Mendes recently said that might not happen. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Mendes shared that Silva has changed his plans and now wants to focus on the tournament before making any decisions.

Then, on June 6, Silva spoke directly through Romano about his future. He admitted Barcelona is an option but said he hasn’t made up his mind yet. He wants to find a club where he feels truly wanted and appreciated.

For now, Silva is fully focused on being part of Portugal’s World Cup team, hoping to help them win the tournament for the first time.
