Big European clubs are about to steal Darwin Nunez from Liverpool as he makes his return.

Al Hilal’s forward Darwin Núñez is reportedly catching the eye of a big European club, even though many thought he might return to Liverpool. Núñez, currently playing in the World Cup, left Liverpool in August 2025, joining the Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal for £46.3 million after three mixed seasons in England.

The 26-year-old didn’t always win over Liverpool fans with his ups and downs, but he still scored 40 goals and made 26 assists in 143 games. His efforts helped Liverpool win the Premier League in 2025. Since moving to Saudi Arabia, Núñez has scored nine goals in 24 games, with Al Hilal finishing second to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr last season.

On June 15, a Uruguayan source said Núñez might come back to Liverpool this summer, but he’s currently focused on the World Cup and will think about his future later. However, well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano said that’s not true. On his YouTube channel, Romano shared that people close to Núñez have denied any talks of a Liverpool return.

The Athletic also said it’s unlikely Núñez will be going back to Anfield right now.

Now, a new report from Tuttosport says that Ruben Amorim, the new AC Milan coach and former Manchester United boss, wants Núñez to join Milan. They’re also interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s forward Gonçalo Ramos. Ramos mostly plays as a backup at PSG, and the club values him at €40 million (£34.6 million). Milan might try a loan deal with a plan to buy Ramos in 2027.

Núñez’s contract with Al Hilal runs until 2028, and Ramos’s contract also ends in 2028.

Even though some criticized Núñez during his time at Liverpool, he admitted in January that he misses the club. He told AUFTV, “Yes, I’d be lying if I said no, that I don’t miss them. They made me feel very good, and my family too. When I went through tough times, the people always gave me affection and support, which meant a lot to me. Obviously, I miss Liverpool, I miss them a lot.”
