Big worry for former WWE star as fans fear he’s ‘joined a cult’

There’s a lot of concern about former WWE star Keith Lee after reports say he might have joined a cult.

Keith joined WWE in 2018 and won both the NXT Championship and the NXT North American Championship. Many thought he would become a top star on the main roster, and he made an impact with a big win over Randy Orton. He was also close to competing for the WWE Championship.

He left WWE in November 2019 and later signed with rival company All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he still has a contract, even though he hasn’t wrestled since December 2023.

Keith has faced some tough times recently with injuries and a divorce. Fans started worrying more after a photo of him with Darius J. Wright was shared. Wright calls himself a “consciousness explorer” and runs a program called ‘Awaken Your Dormant Abilities’ (AYDA). He has shared some unusual ideas, like saying the Egyptian pyramids were built with laser technology, the earth is flat, and vaccines “put a filter over your soul.”

In a rare social media post, Keith, with a gray beard, shared a picture of himself and Wright, tagging him and linking to his website. The post got two million views, and many fans immediately expressed concern, with some calling it a “cult.”

WWE legend D’Von Dudley also spoke out on the DukeLovesRassling podcast. He wasn’t fully sure what AYDA is but warned Keith to be careful, mentioning the dangers of false prophets.

Dudley said, “I hope what I’m hearing isn’t true and that you get out of this cult if that’s what it is. Sometimes you only realize something’s wrong after going through it.”

He added, “Brother Keith Lee, we’re fans of yours. Whatever’s happening, remember you can’t replace God with man. If you’re on a spiritual journey, there are ways to find an awakening. I’m not telling you to follow a certain religion, just to choose God, because man is not God.”

Earlier, Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez said in July that he heard Keith was done with pro wrestling. He didn’t share details about Keith’s life but said, “Whatever this is with Keith Lee, it’s not a gimmick. I was told he’s all in on this AYDA thing and Darius Wright. It seems like this is his path for now.”

Fans are hoping Keith stays safe and finds peace in whatever he chooses to do next.
