Champions League club is chatting with England star about a surprising transfer

A Champions League club is reportedly interested in a Premier League defender who is currently with England at the World Cup.

While the England team is focused on their upcoming World Cup match against Ghana on Tuesday (June 23), some players still have uncertain futures at their clubs.

Marcus Rashford’s future is up in the air, as the Manchester United forward is linked with a possible return to Barcelona, where he spent last season on loan. Harry Kane has reportedly agreed to pause talks about his future at Bayern Munich while concentrating on England’s World Cup run. Meanwhile, young England teammate Elliot Anderson is drawing interest from Manchester City.

Midfielder Morgan Rogers could also be on the move this summer, with Arsenal and Manchester United both watching the Aston Villa player.

It’s not just the attackers facing possible moves. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, late call-up Trevoh Chalobah has caught the eye of Cesc Fàbregas’ club Como, who are preparing for their first-ever Champions League season.

Chelsea want to keep the England defender, who still has two years on his contract. But a starting place under coach Xabi Alonso isn’t guaranteed, as Chalobah will need to compete with Levi Colwill, Jorrel Hato, and Josh Acheampong for a spot in the team.

Romano says Chalobah is interested in the idea of playing in Italy and was previously close to joining Italian champions Inter.

“A name Como really likes is Trevoh Chalobah, a central defender for England recently called up to the World Cup after Tino Livramento got injured,” Romano said on his YouTube channel. “He’s an important player for Chelsea. I think he would be a great signing. He had been close to Inter before and had talks with them, so the chance of moving to Italy is real.

“From what I understand, Chalobah is excited about playing in Italy. But right now, Como and Chelsea are far apart on price. It’s a dream for Como, but it probably won’t happen at Chelsea’s asking price, at least not yet. We’ll see what happens, but today, there’s a big gap between the two clubs.”

Chalobah might not be the only defender who could leave Chelsea this summer. Axel Disasi, Benoît Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, and Mamadou Sarr could all be sold if the right offers come in.

So far, Chalobah has played 151 games for Chelsea, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists.
