Chelsea fans believe the player should be sold right away after his performance in the Fulham win.

Xabi Alonso had a winning start as Chelsea’s new boss, but some fans still want one player sold despite the 3-2 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The west London rivals put on an exciting show for fans, as both Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa made their Premier League coaching debuts.

Chelsea started strong when Joao Pedro scored just one minute in. But Josh King equalized at 23 minutes after goalkeeper Robert Sanchez couldn’t stop his long-range shot—a mistake the 28-year-old Spanish keeper would rather forget.

Alonso’s team took the lead again at 41 minutes when debutant Morgan Rogers scored from Maxence Lacroix’s assist. And the Blues went up 3-1 at 49 minutes, thanks to Cole Palmer’s clever finish through Leno’s legs.

Fulham scored again five minutes later, with Gonzalo Garcia heading in after Sanchez’s save.

Even with the win and a great attacking game, many Chelsea fans spoke out online, asking Alonso to find a new first-choice goalkeeper because of Sanchez’s mistakes.

One fan said, “Why do Chelsea managers keep picking Robert Sánchez as number one when there are other options? Coaches need to think carefully—he makes too many errors and is inconsistent. How many more mistakes do we need to see before they give other goalkeepers a real chance?”

Another wrote, “Robert Sanchez doesn’t meet Chelsea’s standards. His awareness and focus are weak. Games that should be easy wins turn tough, and wins end up as draws or losses. I’m fed up. Sign Martinez.”

A third fan commented, “We’ll take the three points, but we need to stop making games harder than they need to be. Mistakes like Sanchez’s cost us. He’s either brilliant or terrible, no middle ground.”

Another said, “Robert Sánchez is one of the worst goalkeepers I’ve seen for a big club. I still can’t believe he’s Chelsea’s No.1.”

And a fifth added, “Chelsea looked great tonight, especially up front, but starting the season with Robert Sanchez in goal is a big mistake. He’ll cost them points.”

Chelsea’s next game is on August 27 at home against Luton Town in the Carabao Cup second round, followed by a Premier League match versus Brighton on August 30.
