David Haye shares a concerning comment before Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight
Former world champion David Haye recently shared his honest thoughts about the upcoming fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, and he also raised some concerns about Fury.
Joshua and Fury are expected to finally face each other in late 2026. Their promoters, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, say contracts are signed, but the exact date and location haven’t been set yet. Before that big fight, Joshua—who hasn’t fought since beating Jake Paul last December, just days before he was in a tragic car crash that took the lives of his two friends—will be fighting a lesser-known boxer, Kristian Pregna, on July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Fury is likely to have a tune-up fight too, after winning by unanimous decision against Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, with Joshua watching from ringside. Even though both fighters are past their best years, a Fury vs. Joshua fight would still fill most UK stadiums.
So, who might win?
David Haye thinks Fury’s lifestyle could catch up with him. Talking to Tris Dixon, he said, “Is AJ going to dominate him? Will Tyson Fury outbox him? Or will Fury’s lifestyle finally catch up?”
Haye pointed out that Joshua takes great care of his body—he eats well, doesn’t drink, and avoids drugs. “Maybe it comes down to who’s lived the healthiest life. Fury definitely has more boxing skill than Joshua—I’ve never seen AJ slip and slide punches like Fury does when he’s against the ropes. But maybe Fury won’t have to.”
Haye also wondered, “Who can keep up the pace? Who can string punches together better?”
Right now, Fury’s record stands at 35 wins, 1 loss, and 2 draws, with both losses to Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua has 29 wins out of 33 fights, losing four times to Usyk twice, Daniel Dubois, and Andy Ruiz Jr.
