Eddie Hall has made up his mind to retire and has already picked the perfect next opponent before his fight with Tommy Fury.

Former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall recently shared with SPORTbible when he plans to retire from combat sports, ahead of his upcoming boxing match against Tommy Fury. He also named his dream next opponent.

Hall, 38, will face Fury, 27, at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday, June 13. They’ll fight six rounds, two minutes each. It’s an exhibition match, not a professional fight.

Hall, who won the World’s Strongest Man title in 2017, previously boxed against his strongman rival Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Thor) in 2022, where Thor won by unanimous decision. Three years later, Hall switched to mixed martial arts for XTB KSW 105 and knocked out former strongman and MMA fighter Mariusz Pudzianowski in just 30 seconds.

Fury is a pro boxer with a perfect 11-0 record, including big wins over KSI and Jake Paul, so Hall faces a tough challenge. Hall said training camp has been a big learning experience and revealed a surprising change—he didn’t lift weights during camp.

“I stopped lifting weights eight weeks before the fight last time and got injured,” Hall said. “This time, I cut weights completely and learned not to overdo it. When I feel off, I slow down and recover, which helps me stay healthy. I don’t think I’ll lose any strength. No one wishes to be weaker for a fight, I just want to be stronger.”

Fury said his own camp was mostly the same, but he brought in different sparring partners to match Hall’s size—a tricky task given Hall’s size.

“Finding big guys who can actually box is tough,” Fury said. “We found some who know what they’re doing, so it worked out.”

When it comes to diet, Hall isn’t very strict. He sticks mostly to a carnivore diet—meat, eggs, and dairy—with some sourdough bread and chocolate as treats.

“I eat as much as I want and train hard,” Hall said. “A chef helps with my meals, and carbs are my best friend during this tough camp.”

Looking ahead, Hall wants to return to MMA because boxing limits his ability to use his strength in grappling.

“Boxing takes away from my biggest advantage—my strength,” he explained. “In MMA, if I get a hold of you, you’re in trouble. Boxing doesn’t allow that.”

As for his next MMA fight, Hall is eyeing a matchup with Dillon Danis, calling him his top target.

“Danis has called me out and says he’d beat me easily, so let’s make that happen,” Hall said. “I think it will.”

Hall also mentioned former UFC fighter and current KSW heavyweight Phil De Fries, saying they’ve had some back-and-forth. He sees a fight with De Fries as a good way to finish his career.

“That would probably be my last fight—maybe for a world title,” Hall said. “Win, lose, or draw, I’d call it a day after that.”

While Hall’s long-term plans aren’t clear, fans can look forward to an exciting clash between Hall and Fury on Saturday night—a match that promises to be a thrilling mix of different styles.
