England vs Czechia player ratings: a rare starter sparks ideas for Thomas Tuchel, and Harry Kane makes history

Harry Kane celebrated his 125th England appearance with two goals as Thomas Tuchel’s team won their third game in a row, ending the international break on a high with a 3-0 victory over Czechia at Wembley. But who else stood out?

Tuchel made a lot of changes after last weekend’s huge 7-0 win over Croatia. Ezri Konsa, Alex Scott, Bukayo Saka, and Anthony Gordon were rested, giving places to Trent Alexander-Arnold, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Morgan Rogers, and Eberechi Eze for England’s last Nations League game of the break.

The match started slowly, but on 27 minutes, Kane’s cross—meant for Eze—was accidentally turned into the net by former West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal. After that, England grew stronger, pushing Czechia back. Jude Bellingham showed his usual skills, dribbling past opponents, while Alexander-Arnold delivered some nice crosses.

Then, Elliot Anderson sent a long ball to Morgan Rogers, who quickly passed to Kane. Kane calmly finished to make it 2-0 before halftime, scoring his 90th international goal on his 125th game. Just before the hour, Kane scored again, heading in a perfect corner from Lewis Hall, making it 3-0. The game slowed down after that, but Tuchel’s team was clearly proud of three straight wins during the international break.

England will face Croatia on November 12, then take on world champions Spain in Madrid three days later.

Player ratings:

Jordan Pickford — 7/10
Had an easy night with very few saves to make and stayed calm with the ball. The competition with James Trafford for the No. 1 spot will continue in November.

Trent Alexander-Arnold — 7/10
Ran up the flank a lot and showed his usual skill on the ball. He’ll need to handle tougher challenges to secure a starting place for Euro 2028.

Jarell Quansah — 7/10
Quiet game alongside Guéhi in defense. Tuchel clearly trusts him, and he made good progress during the break.

Marc Guéhi — 7/10
Like Quansah, had a calm night with little threat from Czechia and stayed solid throughout.

Lewis Hall — 7.5/10
Full of energy and gaining valuable experience. His corner led to Kane’s second goal, giving Tuchel a tough choice at left-back with Nico O’Reilly injured.

Elliot Anderson — 7/10
Composed and controlled much of the game. Set up Kane’s goal with a clever pass, proving to be an important part of Tuchel’s squad.

Myles Lewis-Skelly — 7/10
Worked well with Anderson, keeping things tidy. Showed some skill early in the second half. Still growing, but another positive performance.

Morgan Rogers — 7.5/10
Started on the right and was a constant threat. Assisted Kane’s first goal and showed great confidence, boosting his chances for more starts.

Jude Bellingham — 7/10
Played the game at his own pace, clearly better than the defenders. Had a quieter night than against Croatia but still impressed with his skill and calmness.

Eberechi Eze — 6/10
Started in a rare chance but didn’t have much impact. With strong competition, it’s hard to see him as a regular starter soon.

Harry Kane — 9/10
Matched Peter Shilton’s appearance record and scored two classy goals, including a header from Hall’s corner. With 91 goals now, Tuchel was right—you won’t see another player like Kane anytime soon.

Substitutes:
James Garner — 7/10
Calm and composed with the ball in the last 30 minutes.

Jarrad Brathwaite — 7/10
Also relaxed on the ball, though didn’t have many chances to show his defense.

Rio Ngumoha & Morgan Gibbs-White — No rating (little to no time on the pitch).
