Exciting news! Every former pro player has joined the Wythenshawe Vets super-team, with an amazing new signing just revealed!
The famous Wythenshawe Vets team has gathered some incredible Premier League legends to create a super squad to dominate their Sunday League games.
Over the past year, the Wythenshawe FC vets team has gone viral for their amazing group of players aged over 35, featuring some well-known former Premier League stars. Recently, they made headlines when eight-time Olympic champion sprinter Usain Bolt signed up to play in the Premier Division of the Cheshire Veterans Football League.
But Bolt isn’t the only big name joining them this season—an exciting surprise player has now been added to their official squad list! The team already includes former Manchester City players Stephen Ireland, Joleon Lescott, and Nedum Onuoha, along with famous names like Emile Heskey, Marc Albrighton, and Danny Drinkwater. They hardly need any more signings to be the strongest Sunday League team ever.
Still, they aren’t stopping there. Their latest squad list suggests that three-time Premier League winner Joe Cole may have joined the team! The official FA website shows Cole listed with the other ex-stars, and while there’s no official announcement yet, the team’s social media hints it’s only a matter of time before we see him playing Sunday league football.
When a fan shared a photo of the squad including Cole’s name, the Wythenshawe Vets X account replied, “So much more to come! Thank you Cam.” If Joe Cole does join, he’ll add Wythenshawe Vets to his impressive career that includes clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Lille, and Aston Villa. Cole had his greatest success at Chelsea, winning three Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a League Cup. He also earned 56 caps for England, scoring 10 goals and playing in three World Cups.
Even though Cole’s signing isn’t officially confirmed, his name on the squad list means we’ll likely see him playing for Wythenshawe Vets this season. As for Bolt, he still hasn’t appeared for the team and isn’t on the official squad list yet, but there’s still hope we might see the Olympic legend turn out for them one day.
