Ferrari shares update as team boss Fred Vasseur is in hospital before the Monaco Grand Prix
Ferrari has announced that team principal Fred Vasseur will miss qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix after being taken to the hospital. Vasseur, who has been leading the team since January 2023, was at Friday’s practice sessions where his drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc finished first and second both times. He even spoke to the media afterward, but now it’s confirmed he won’t be at qualifying on Saturday.
There’s no update yet on whether he will be at the race on Sunday. Ferrari shared a statement saying: “Fred Vasseur won’t be at the circuit today. After some medical tests, Fred will stay in a local medical facility for observation. No further medical details will be shared. We wish Fred a quick recovery and hope to see him back at the track soon.”
Ferrari is currently second in the constructors’ championship with 147 points, thanks to four podium finishes this season. Leclerc is third in the drivers’ standings, right behind Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, with Hamilton just a spot behind in fourth.
