Former Sky F1 presenter gets a new job with an F1 team just weeks after leaving the company
A few weeks ago, Rachel Brookes surprised everyone by announcing she was leaving Sky F1. But she quickly found a new role since then! Rachel left Sky’s Formula 1 team just before the Austrian Grand Prix in June, after spending 14 years with them.
Many fans know her as the paddock reporter who chatted with drivers before, during, and after races. She played a big part in bringing fans great coverage of the sport. When she announced her exit on X, the 51-year-old shared that she’s still very much connected to F1.
“After many years at Sky, I’m off to exciting new adventures and can’t wait to see what’s next,” Rachel said. “I’ve left Sky F1, but F1 still has my heart, so I’ll stay involved. I’ll keep you updated — see you at Silverstone!”
Planet F1 made it clear that her leaving Sky wasn’t linked to a recent podcast where she opened up about online abuse after interviewing Max Verstappen in 2025. Still, Rachel is excited to keep working in Formula One. Last weekend, she teamed up with Aston Martin at the British Grand Prix as the host of The Lawn.
The Lawn is a yearly VIP and fan event held by Aston Martin near the Silverstone circuit during the British GP weekend. Rachel took part in a pit stop challenge while the American band Razorlight performed at the AMR Technology Campus.
After the race, which saw Charles Leclerc take his first win of 2026, Rachel thanked everyone for their warm welcome on social media.
“The British GP is always special. It was great meeting so many of you, and thanks for all your kind words,” she wrote on Instagram.
Rachel has been close with Aston Martin for a while, hosting their car launches in 2022, 2023, and 2026. But this year hasn’t been easy for the team. Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso have started at the back of the grid for the fourth race in a row and only scored one point all season, sitting near the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship.
Both drivers have spoken openly about how tough the car has been this year, calling it the worst on the grid. However, before the British GP, Aston Martin announced a big update with aero and weight improvements will arrive at the Hungaroring, the last race before the summer break on July 26.
“You have to work on many parts to make big changes,” said Mike Krack, Aston Martin’s Chief Trackside Officer. “I couldn’t even tell you all the parts that will be changed. We’ll share details when it’s ready and see how it goes.”
