Harry Kane shares a rare message about how things are going at Spurs right now
Harry Kane, the England captain and Bayern Munich star, shared his thoughts on his old team, Tottenham Hotspur, staying in the Premier League. Spurs secured a 1-0 win over Everton on the final day of the season, thanks to a goal from Joao Palhinha, who is on loan from Bayern.
The 2025-26 season was tough for Spurs. They let go of manager Ange Postecoglou last summer after finishing just above the relegation zone but ended the season winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League. Things didn’t go as planned with Thomas Frank as manager, and after bringing in and letting go of Igor Tudor, Spurs finally settled on Roberto De Zerbi. He helped the team avoid relegation with a crucial last-day win.
De Zerbi took over in April with a goal to win three of the last seven games, and Sunday’s win against Everton was his third and most impressive. Earlier wins came away at relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers and a distracted Aston Villa, who were focused on an upcoming Europa League semi-final.
The win against Everton was Spurs’ first home league win since beating Brentford in early December. Across all competitions, they managed just nine home wins in 2025-26.
Kane, now 32, was Spurs’ inspiring captain for years, but since moving to Bayern in summer 2023, Spurs have faced many challenges with management and behind-the-scenes issues, making it a tough time in the competitive Premier League.
On the final day, Kane was closely watching. West Ham had to beat Leeds and Spurs had to lose for West Ham to survive—but Palhinha’s goal sent West Ham down despite their win. Kane congratulated Spurs and their fans for their hard-fought result on X (formerly Twitter).
After scoring a hat-trick in this year’s DFB-Pokal final, which Bayern won, Kane helped his team achieve a career double. Bayern’s deputy chairman, Uli Hoeness, called him “the best transfer” in Bayern’s history. He also said Barcelona couldn’t afford Kane, dismissing rumors of interest from the Spanish club.
Since moving to the Bundesliga after Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten title season, Kane has been outstanding. He helped Bayern win back-to-back league titles and scored three times in the DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart. This season, he has scored 61 goals in 51 club games, including starting and ending the league season with hat-tricks.
