Ibrahima Konate’s Real Madrid salary ‘leaked’ after deal was made

Ibrahima Konate’s salary at Real Madrid has come to light as he gets ready to join the club on a free transfer.

His contract with Liverpool ends on June 30 because he couldn’t agree on new terms, even after long talks. Last weekend, Liverpool confirmed both the firing of Arne Slot and that Konate would be leaving without a transfer fee.

Speaking about leaving, Konate shared that he was “deeply saddened” he didn’t get to say goodbye to everyone at the last game.

Shortly after, well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Konate had agreed to join Real Madrid, with a four-year contract in place—if Florentino Perez wins the presidential election over Enrique Riquelme.

El Desmarque has since shared details about what Konate could earn at the Santiago Bernabeu. The report says his deal until 2030 will pay him about €24 million before tax each year. That’s roughly €460,000 (or £400,000) a week. In total, the 4-year contract could be worth around £83 million if he stays the full term.

Plus, because he’s coming in on a free transfer, Konate is set to receive a big signing bonus of about £17 million.

Konate apparently turned down a large offer from Saudi Arabia to join Real Madrid. His new salary is much higher than what Liverpool offered him—around £150,000 a week.

With Andoni Iraola now replacing Slot as Liverpool’s coach, the club really needs new players after losing Konate, Andy Robertson, and Mo Salah.

Interestingly, Liverpool might be after Burnley defender Maxime Esteve. Esteve joined Burnley last summer for £10.3 million from Montpellier but experienced relegation in his first year.

Still, he impressed enough to get interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, and Crystal Palace. Burnley expect to lose Esteve this summer and are already looking at Middlesbrough captain Dael Fry as a possible replacement in defense.
