ITV paused their live World Cup coverage to show a heartfelt segment with Emma Hayes.

USWNT head coach Emma Hayes took a moment during ITV’s World Cup coverage to share a touching Father’s Day message while talking about the Group G match between Belgium and Iran.
Hayes, who’s been praised for her expert analysis this summer, was invited by ITV to break down tactics during the hydration breaks. On Sunday, after discussing Belgium’s 0-0 draw with Iran, she paused to honor her late dad, Sid, who passed away in 2023.
She said, “One last thing, happy Father’s Day to everyone at home. Today is also my dad’s heavenly birthday, and I want to say thank you to him for giving me the confidence to be here.”
Then Hayes turned to the Brooklyn skyline, showing a special message on her jacket that read: “She will change the world.” This was a phrase her dad often said, according to The Telegraph.
Sid Hayes was a true pioneer in women’s football. He helped build a strong Arsenal team and worked hard to create youth leagues in Regent’s Park. For nearly 50 years, he dedicated his time to coaching kids, women, and men in the area.
After his passing in 2023 from lung cancer, Emma shared how much he meant to her. “He was my biggest supporter,” she said. “He told me I would change women’s football, but to always work hard and take risks. He taught me to focus on others and stand up against bad behavior.”
Emma Hayes is now seen as one of the most important managers in women’s football history. She led Chelsea to seven Women’s Super League titles, including five in a row from 2020 to 2024.
