Jack Grealish is getting closer to leaving Man City as a surprising Premier League team has made a new offer.

Sunderland have put in an offer to sign Manchester City winger Jack Grealish, with news about his possible move to the Stadium of Light coming out. Grealish is one of a few players who might leave City before the transfer deadline on September 1, and several clubs have been interested in the England star over the summer.

Earlier in August, The Sun reported that Atletico Madrid was thinking about signing the 30-year-old. There’s also talk of him possibly going back to Aston Villa or Everton, where he spent last season on loan. While at Everton, Grealish scored two goals and made six assists in 22 games before a broken foot against Villa cut his season short, ending his chance to be picked for England’s World Cup squad.

Since recovering, Grealish has come off the bench in a couple of City games, including the recent Community Shield loss to Arsenal and the Premier League win over Bournemouth. When asked about Grealish’s future, City boss Maresca said he plans to work with him and get the best out of him but also hinted that changes could still happen as the transfer window closes.

Grealish is entering the last year of his reported £300k-a-week contract, and club insiders suggest he could leave. According to David Ornstein on X, Sunderland’s offer includes City paying part of Grealish’s wages, with a chance for the move to become permanent next summer when his contract ends.

Grealish joined City from Villa in 2021 for a huge £100 million. Since then, he’s scored 17 goals and made 23 assists in 159 games, winning three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and the Champions League.

Selling Grealish’s big contract could help City bring in new players after recently signing Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille for around £81.4m. Maresca is also keen to reunite with midfielder Enzo Fernandez, but Chelsea wants a huge £120m for him.

City are thinking about making a bid for Fernandez before September 1 as they look to replace Rodri, who left for Barcelona. Chelsea might only sell if they find a replacement, possibly Alex Scott, who turned down a new deal at Bournemouth.

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett mentioned that if City don’t get Fernandez, they might go for Scott instead. The 23-year-old has two years left on his Bournemouth contract and could cost over £80m, as he’s become one of the Premier League’s most wanted midfielders.
