Mercedes’ young star Antonelli has been showing everyone why he’s a serious title contender this year. He made history by becoming the youngest-ever winner of the Monaco Grand Prix, and even pulled off a rare Grand Slam—winning the race, taking pole position, setting the fastest lap, and leading every single lap. Now, he’s sitting comfortably 66 points ahead of second place, Lewis Hamilton.
But it wasn’t just Antonelli’s amazing performance that caught attention after the race. During the podium celebration, reality TV star Kim Kardashian, who is rumored to be dating Hamilton, was seen grabbing Antonelli’s official winner’s towel—used for wiping sweat and champagne. While Antonelli seemed to take it in stride, many F1 fans online thought her move was a bit selfish and caused quite a stir.
Wanting to make things right, Kim sent Kimi a new white towel with “To Kimi from Kim” embroidered on it before the next big race at Barcelona-Catalunya. In a video shared by Mercedes, Antonelli happily accepted the gift, saying, “Thank you Kim!” Later, he was even spotted wearing the towel around his neck as he zipped around the paddock on a scooter.
Having won five of the first six races this season, Antonelli is now the favorite to win the 2026 F1 title—even though he started the year as an underdog. The 19-year-old leads by 66 points over Ferrari’s Hamilton, with his teammate George Russell, who many expected to win, sitting just a bit behind.
Despite his incredible success, Antonelli knows there’s still more to prove—to himself and to others. Speaking in Barcelona, he said, “There are still questions I need to answer about how far I can push myself and grow.” He reflected on last year’s tough times in Europe, saying they helped him mature and learn a lot about himself. “This year, I feel stronger and don’t doubt myself as much,” he added.
