Liverpool reach personal agreement with England World Cup star in clever deal
Liverpool is said to have agreed on a deal to bring back an England World Cup player for £55 million. Even though many of Europe’s best players are busy in North America for the World Cup, Premier League teams are still working on transfers before the window opens on June 15.
New Liverpool coach Andoni Iraola has been linked with several Bournemouth players like Alex Scott, Eli Junior Kroupi, Adrien Truffert, and Rayan. At the same time, some players might be leaving Liverpool. Federico Chiesa and Curtis Jones aren’t sure about their future, and Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson have already confirmed they’re leaving. Ibrahima Konate has also moved on and is expected to join Real Madrid.
This means Liverpool needs to strengthen its defense. They’ve already signed 20-year-old Jeremy Jacquet, and defender Giovanni Leoni is currently recovering from an ACL injury.
Now, the ECHO reports that England center-back Jarell Quansah has agreed personal terms to return to Liverpool. Quansah, who grew up at Liverpool, moved to Bayer Leverkusen in 2025 to get more playing time. Liverpool received £35 million from that transfer, with a buy-back clause allowing them to sign him again for £55 million.
Quansah has reportedly agreed to the deal, but it’s not clear if Liverpool will use their buy-back option. Last season, he played 44 games for Leverkusen and scored five goals. He’s under contract in Germany until 2030.
Back in April, Quansah said leaving Liverpool was an easy choice. “I just wanted to play,” he explained. “The Bundesliga is a top league, and playing in the Champions League was a big opportunity. Sometimes you have to trust your gut and not listen too much to others because you can get confused.”
