Liverpool legends Kenny Dalglish and John Barnes open up about their cancer fights, while Kevin Keegan talks about his stage-four diagnosis.

Sir Kenny Dalglish has shared that he has been diagnosed with cancer, making him the third Liverpool legend this week to open up about their health.
On Tuesday, former England star John Barnes, 62, spoke about his prostate cancer diagnosis on Times Radio, saying, “Not many people know” he had it. Then, on Monday, former England and Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan revealed he has stage four cancer.
Barnes explained, “I’ve had prostate cancer and had my prostate removed. It’s not talked about much because we focus on breast cancer, which is really well-known. But for men, especially Black men, prostate cancer is more common. Men need to be brave, admit if they have issues, and speak up. It’s good that more people are talking about it now.
“Many men don’t want to admit it or get treatment because they feel it makes them less of a man. But it doesn’t. You’re still the same person, and that’s what matters the most.”
Earlier that day, 75-year-old Dalglish, who played for Scotland, Celtic, and Liverpool, released a statement about his diagnosis after accidentally posting it on social media.
In his Instagram post, he wrote, “As my accidental social media post shows, I am currently getting treatment for cancer. Unlike my phone skills, the treatment is going well. I wanted to keep this private, but my tech problems gave it away.
“I didn’t mean to make it public, so I hope everyone respects the privacy of my family and me. Thanks so much to the amazing medical staff who have been so caring and professional, not just for me but for many others. They’re truly wonderful.”
Liverpool, his former club, was among those sending him their best wishes.
