Man City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak talks about the 115 Premier League charges facing the club.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has promised to finally speak out in a “wonderful sit-down” chat once the decision is made about their long-running dispute with the Premier League. This has been a hot topic in football for over three years. In February 2023, the Premier League accused Manchester City of breaking financial fair play rules 115 times over nine years.

The Premier League says City didn’t give correct financial information, but the club denies this, saying they have strong proof to show they did nothing wrong. A private hearing happened between September and December 2024, but the independent commission hasn’t released a decision yet.

In a rare interview at the end of the season, Al Mubarak spoke about the case. “I’ve been clear this whole time – until the verdict is out, I can’t say much,” he said. “But once the ruling is made, we’ll have a great sit-down, and I’ll share everything I’ve wanted to say for the past three years.”

Al Mubarak also reassured fans that Sheikh Mansour, owner of Manchester City since 2008 and a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, has no plans to sell the club. “There’s no plan to sell. We want to keep growing because this is a great business to be part of,” he said.

He added, “Football is the biggest sport and a form of entertainment that stays strong no matter what. Manchester City is one of the top clubs in the world. Clubs like this aren’t things you sell.”

He explained how the club’s value has grown over time: “When Sheikh Mansour bought the club, it was worth about $100-120 million. Over the years, that’s grown to billions — $1 billion, $3 billion, $5 billion, and now over $8 billion. If the club was sold today, it wouldn’t go for less than $10 billion.”

Al Mubarak finished by saying this growth shows the smart investment and strong value behind Manchester City.
