Man Utd faces a big setback as their top target says no to January move
Manchester United spent the summer boosting their midfield by signing Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba. However, Michael Carrick and the club still want to bring in another player, and they have been chasing AC Milan’s star, Youssouf Fofana, who is currently on loan at Sevilla.
But there’s some disappointing news for Manchester United fans. When Fofana heard about the club’s interest, he wasn’t keen on making a move to the Premier League. Carrick’s team has had a tough start this season, with just two wins in eight games across all competitions, including matches against Ipswich Town and Sabah.
Lisandro Martinez recently spoke out, criticizing the club for not bringing in enough quality players this summer to build on the promising season they had under Carrick. Fans were hopeful when Fofana’s name came up since he’s been playing well for Sevilla in La Liga this year.
Fofana has played five matches for Sevilla this season, scoring once and helping the team reach fifth place in the league. But according to VamosMiSevilla, he doesn’t want to leave Sevilla in January, even if Manchester United makes an official offer to AC Milan. For a move to happen, Sevilla would need to end his loan early, and it seems unlikely they would agree.
Reports say the 27-year-old wants to stay with Sevilla and finish the season there.
On another note, many fans and experts agree that United need to strengthen their defense, especially at left-back since Luke Shaw has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. Now, news from Sport Witness suggests United might be going after Maxi Araujo from Sporting CP.
Earlier, they were linked with Newcastle’s Lewis Hall, but it seems their focus has shifted. Araujo could cost around £55 million, and he’s also on the radar of Arsenal, who want to strengthen their squad as they aim for a Champions League spot.
