Man Utd leaders are in a bit of a clash over who should be the next manager, with two main candidates in the running to take over from Michael Carrick.

Manchester United is going through a tough time as the club’s leaders talk about possibly letting Michael Carrick go after their heavy 4-1 loss to Como. Carrick was made permanent head coach just five months ago, but now his future at the club is uncertain because the team hasn’t won in seven games.

Right now, United are 13th in the Premier League and 20th in the Champions League, which has caused tension among the club’s top officials. They are even debating who should take over if Carrick is sacked, with two main candidates causing some disagreements.

The recent 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League looks like it might be Carrick’s last straw. The next Premier League game against Bournemouth could be his final match as head coach. Adding to the pressure, captain Bruno Fernandes openly criticized Carrick in a post-match interview, making his position even harder to keep.

According to The Mail, there’s a growing clash between Manchester United’s director of football Jason Wilcox and director of recruitment Christopher Vivell. They are reportedly at odds over who should replace Carrick. Vivell supports Julian Nagelsmann, who has recently been in the spotlight after stepping down as Germany’s manager following a disappointing World Cup.

Wilcox, who is Vivell’s boss, prefers someone with Premier League experience. Names like Eddie Howe, Fabian Hurzeler, Unai Emery, and Antonio Conte have all been linked to the job recently, but Howe seems to be the favorite. The former Newcastle manager is well respected by the United board, and since he’s ready to get back into management, hiring him might be an easy choice.

Fabian Hurzeler would be a solid pick too, but he isn’t planning to leave Brighton this season, especially since they’re doing so well in the league. Emery might want the job but leaving Aston Villa in the middle of the season could be tough for him. If both Howe and Nagelsmann aren’t available, Conte is still an option. Rumors say United have already talked with him, but he’s making big demands, like full control over player signings, which the club is still thinking over.

So, while things look uncertain for Carrick, Manchester United’s board is carefully considering their next move to get the club back on track.
