Man Utd takes a first-ever step with their 2026/27 kit decision
Manchester United have made a surprising decision about their kit for the 2026/27 season, according to reports.
United will be playing Champions League football again next season after securing their place with three Premier League games left. Michael Carrick has taken the team to Europe’s top competition, but he is only set to stay as interim manager until the summer.
There’s been a lot of talk about who will be the next permanent manager, but knowing which tournaments they’ll be in has helped the club plan ahead off the field.
United are getting ready to release their 2026/27 home shirt, which is said to feature a striped collar inspired by the shirts from the 1970s.
The Daily Mail says the team will wear the new shirt in their last two games of this season, against Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion. Before that, they will wear their black third kit for their away match at Sunderland, since their white away kit clashes with Sunderland’s home colors.
Carrick’s team can secure third place by earning four points in the last three matches. Liverpool and Aston Villa are both six points behind with three games to go. It’s also possible, though unlikely, they could finish second if they win all their remaining games and Manchester City earns one point or less in their last four matches.
In other news, United are reportedly in talks with Betway, a British bookmaker, to be the front-of-shirt sponsor for their training kit next season. The Premier League is starting a voluntary ban on gambling sponsors on matchday shirts from next season, but this doesn’t affect training gear.
The Athletic reports that the deal with Betway—who used to sponsor West Ham’s shirts—could be worth over £18 million, making it one of the biggest single-partner deals in football.
