Manchester United ‘contacted’ by Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan about a budget-friendly deal for a player

Manchester United might be ready to sell a player to AC Milan, who just hired their former coach Ruben Amorim, as part of a bargain deal. Amorim, out of work since leaving Manchester United in January, was named AC Milan’s head coach earlier this June.
Milan sacked Massimiliano Allegri in May after missing out on the Champions League, and after talking to several managers, they chose Amorim. Now, he’s focused on helping Milan challenge for the Serie A title next season. Last season, Milan finished fifth, just six points behind second-placed Napoli, though they lost three of their last five games. The champions, Inter, were far ahead by 17 points.
Milan spent about £135 million on new players last summer but also lost some big names like Tijjani Reijnders (to Manchester City), Malick Thiaw (to Newcastle), and Theo Hernandez (to Al Hilal). Because they didn’t qualify for the Champions League this time, they’ll need to sell players before they can buy new ones this summer.
This is where Manchester United might step in. Reports say AC Milan have shown interest in United’s midfielder Mason Mount. Manchester United’s team, managed by Michael Carrick now, is asking for about €25 million (around £21.5 million), but this price might drop. Mount only started 12 Premier League games last season, and just two after Carrick took over in January. He’s reported to be one of Milan’s top targets this summer along with PSG’s Goncalo Ramos.
However, The Daily Mirror says Mount’s agents haven’t been contacted by Milan, and Mount himself plans to stay at Old Trafford for now. But Italian media are sure that Amorim wants to work with Mount again, as they have a history together from their time in English football.
Back in December, Amorim praised Mount after Manchester United beat Wolves 4-1, calling him a great player and a strong leader who leads by example. Amorim said Mount “can defend, can attack, and has great quality on the ball,” and that his leadership is steady no matter the situation.
Meanwhile, United have their own midfield challenges. Manuel Ugarte is expected to miss most of next season following a serious knee injury at the World Cup while playing for Uruguay. The club has agreed to sign Ederson from Atalanta as they prepare for Champions League football again, but with Casemiro leaving, the senior midfield options are now limited to Mount, Bruno Fernandes, and Kobbie Mainoo.
So, it’s an interesting summer ahead for both clubs!
